…when you’re baking, of course, or not watching football.  For example, I watch while I am in the kitchen.  Until my husband takes over, that is.  Luckily, I was smart enough to schedule all kinds of goodies to record, or I own seasons of many shows that include a Thanksgiving episode.

Here are some of those gems:

1.  Friends Thanksgiving re-runs.  They’ve been airing all week so far, but at least a few are available to record tonight if you are able.  Here in Denver, the channels for it are TBS in the afternoon and CW late-night.

2.  Chuck — season 1, ”Chuck Versus the Nemesis”.  Chuck and Ellie do Thanksgiving, along with some guests, Sarah’s ex returns, and Black Friday at the Buy More is an even bigger disaster than usual. 

3.  Gossip Girl — season 1, “Blair Waldorf Must Pie”.  The tension at the dinner table at the Humphrey house is likely to rival that of the upcoming T-Day episode set to air next Monday.  Plus, we get flashbacks to determine how those crazy kids came to be.

4.  Top Chef Thanksgiving Special — last year they aired this and I think it reruns tomorrow at something like 8am.  Maybe you’ll get some last-minute cooking ideas?

5.  Garfield’s Thanksgiving.  Now, this is a special one because I own the Garfield Holiday movie set.  Soooo while I may be fortunate enough to pop in a DVD, maybe it can be found on cable if you hunt around a bit.

Am I missing anything?  Are you a Charlie Brown fan?  Do you start watching Christmas movies on Turkey Day?  More power to you!  I don’t turn my nose up at anyone’s holiday traditions.  Whatever you watch and whomever you watch with, enjoy it!

Alan and Danny talk to Jillian about how ‘worried’ they are to go home. The product plugs on this show, are just silly…Amanda is worried and complaining about her being the ‘only one’ left. Saying Alan, Rudy, Liz, Danny won’t vote each other off….I will be very surprised if Liz ends up in the final four. Amanda is crying listening to Bob talk about it being the ‘last week’ I can’t stand her. Why is Bob crying over Amanda?  Why does Bob feel bad for her? Brown team is the last team standing which is great.

The challenge…. everyone is at a football field they are all wearing jerseys with the amount of weight they have lost on the ranch this far. They are required to carry the amount of weight they have lost each week.  Winner of this challenge goes to the Pro BOwl!  Plus, if you win the NFL will donate $5,000 of athletic equipment to a school of the winner’s choice. Alan wins the challenge!
 

To the weigh-in: Danny loses 16 pounds, Rudy loses 12 pounds, Alan loses 8 pounds, Liz loses 5 pounds..and  the most annoying…..Lets not forget her! Amanda she loses 7 pounds. So my beloved Alan, and stupid Liz are below the yellow line. “Liz and Alan’s fate is in my hands”- Amanda

Guess who Amanda votes home- Allan.  All in all, I’m really disappointed with this show.

The challenge: Suspended from a zip line type thing- and you pull yourself across. Liz is really scared…and some are laughing about it. Rudy wins. Because everyone had their families in town they didn’t get to work out as much. I don’t think anyone is really worried about the weigh in. Now, this is the biggest BIGGEST LOSER ever. So, people are losing a lot of weight. Records are being broken every week! So everyone is expected to put up good numbers. 
Rudy, Danny, stupid Amanda throw up big numbers…Alan is a little low- Jillian praises Alan and says he a solid rock. Rebecca and Liz fall below the yellow line. Which makes me sad. I actually like Rebecca. I would have preferred Liz going home…but Rebecca gets sent home. I think that she could have gotten to the finals. I hope Amanda doesn’t make it. I’ll be irritated.
Rebecca looks great on the ‘how does this eliminated player look’.  The finale, as always, will be LIVE.  Which is awesome.  They get sent home I think a month before the finale? I never remember. This is a short post, because its already a day late. Sorry Folks.

He's baaaaaaack

Well, last Thanksgiving Nate’s dad went to jail, and Dan’s dad is obviously alive and kicking and married to Lily.  So who does that leave?  Well, two other gentlemen be returnin’ and they are going to turn the town upside down.

First off, hold onto your pants: Bart Bass is alive.  I read that he may have been forced to fake his death for some reason (helloooooo, mobsters, obviously!)  What will this mean for Lily?  Can she still be legally married to Rufus if she was never widowed?  And I know she’s wealthy from her own family, but she now owns half of Bass Industries, right???  I am super stoked to see where this one goes.  He’ll be back in a December episode in time for Christmas.

We’re obviously leading up to the return of Serena and Eric’s father.  I also read that Serena will be getting into a very bad car accident, so will he come back to be a donor?  Or on his own terms?  I’m still confused in seeing the return address of “Dr. Van der Woodsen” since I wasn’t aware he was a doctor…. and I am truly antsy trying to figure out who the hell is playing the part.  All I know is that I hope it’s someone from one of Josh Schwartz’s other shows (i.e. Gossip Girl or Chuck).

I am happy to see that there will again be a Thanksgiving episode, but it doesn’t air until the Monday after Turkey Day.  And since I specifically read that Bart is back in December in time for the holidays, that will make for an exciting Christmas ep as well!

All in all, it’s a lot to wrap your head around!  But many millions tried, as the wedding special was viewed by over 3 million people.  And cynic that I am, I have to say that I actually really liked them together.  Maybe this is just what Khloe has needed all this time, to settle down!  Hardly, and I’m extremely interested to see how long it will last.  That prenup better be iron-clad!

You could really see Kris’ eyes light up when she realized it was really happening.  Not that her daughter’s in love and getting married, but that she snagged a high-profile multi-millionaire athlete who can get the whole family courtside seats to boot!  And locked it up in under 4 weeks.  That shit is impressive.  I find it hilarious that half of the Kardashian women are into black guys, half are into white guys, and then there’s Rob, who just really likes Adrienne.  By the way, that plan really failed, huh? 

I also saw Khloe and Lamar on Chelsea Handler and their interview was hysterical.  I am never ashamed to admit that I watch a whole lot of tv that other people loathe, and this will continue to be one of them.  But, I do think I should say that I don’t sit down with a bowl of popcorn and a glass of champagne at promptly 7pm on Sunday.  I wait until 7:18 so I can zoom through the commercials.

I doubt I originated that quip but it certainly is true.  You can easily zone out to The Hills, The City, and Real World Road Rules: The Ruins.  I can and I have so let’s talk about what’s happening on them!

On The Hills, dumb pretty Audrina decided that after last week’s meeting, Justin is clearly not over her and since we’ve always known that she isn’t over him, it seemed (to her) absolutely appropriate to have dinner with him and tell him they should get back together.  The only problem: Justin didn’t agree and insinuated that he’s still interested in Kristen since she “did something different to him”.  What, fingered his ass???  I bet Aud would do that for you, too, JB — you just need to ask! 

Then we have that dumbass Spencer, who decided he was so concerned that Heidi was going to get knocked up that he went to a vasectomy consultation.  He assumed it was totally reversible whenever he wanted it to be, but when the doctor told him they considered that to be permanent because a reversal doesn’t always work, he skedaddled the hell out of there.  When Heidi found out, though, she reminded him that he knew damn well she wanted babies when they got married so marrying her must have been a huge mistake.  His response: a loss for words, which almost never happens!

Kristen and Jayde’s showdown was typical of some sloppy drunks, and Jayde does certainly seem to have a drinking problem.  She regularly puts down whole bottles of Jagermeister and throws drinks, glasses, and tantrums in every single episode.  Kristen and Brody had a lot of conversations about rekindling their romance, but it didn’t get far since Brody was already feeling guilty the next day, all the while proclaiming that he and Jayde will “never” get back together.  Pish!  Until next week, when Jayde tells him she misses him and wants to be together and Brody’s grin stretches ear to ear.  That’s pretty telling, and I see no reports that they have broken things off in real life.

Next week we also see Kristen getting a voice mail from JB saying he’s “getting back with Audrina”.  I guess he’s still playing the game! 

I missed The City (and by missed, I mean I napped through it) so I actually don’t have much to say about it except I did see that horribly awkward interaction between Olivia and Erin on their plane ride.  Good to know that’s what is happening up in First Class — I’ll stick to Coach thank you!

RW/RR The Ruins… there’s a challenge and no surprises, The Champions win again.  Their team is stacked with ripped guys, whereas The Challengers are loaded with scrawny women.  Afterwards, Johanna clearly needs to go in since she hasn’t faced off yet, and she picks Sarah at her team’s urging.  They need Casey to stay so she can continue causing her team to lose.  In The Ruins, Sarah is the winner and takes Johanna’s bank, which is a decent size.  Since darling Cohutta is sitting on about 18 grand, he is picked once again, this time by Darrell.  And he lost, leaving Darrell with $30,000 in his own account.  Poor Cohutta didn’t even seem to put up a fight, either.  Now only Brad and Dunbar are left. 

Next week, Darrell goes psycho on someone.  I paused and zoomed and rewound and paused some more, and I’m about 80% certain that the person he attacks is Dunbar.  Which likely means he’s going home and that the $30,000 will be absorbed somehow.  I don’t recall how that works.  Also, the team is still trying to offload Casey, and Brad is still stressing out about it.

Everyone is talking about their A game…..
Danny, Alan, Shay, Amanda, Rudy, Dan, Rebecca and Liz… Two players will be eliminated this week. The person with the lowest percentage of weight loss…below the red line and that is automatic elimination. 3 people will fall below the ‘line’.

Pop Challenge: jumping up towards a wall with tennis balls, carrying the balls to your bucket. Amanda and Liz have to sit out…There has been a lot of people this season who have to sit out because of an injury. This is an intense challenge. Prize for pop challenge= 1 pound advantage at the weigh-in. Alan and Rebecca so close…Alan wins. I like Alan.  Alison is awesome. She is just such a good host. Amanda and Rebecca…walking around. Younger vs. Older. Danny and Liz walking around….they are both discussing the young vs. old. Amanda- ‘all i care about is my self, and my group of friends’ I basically hate this girl. She is so annoying!!! This is about people changing their lives, and becoming healthier. Although, the money- the game, the greed it gets to people. Maybe we are pre-disposed to this……Tracy is home that is time to CELEBRATE!

When they go and explain to Jillian and Bob…they are SHOCKED. There has NEVER been a red line in Biggest Loser History. Jillian fights for Shay. Jillian is worried for Shay…she is really concerned. Jillian is talking about Bob playing ‘God’. I wonder if they love each other secretly. They agree, some secret…they both agree Bob leaves the conversation with ‘I’ve got it’ ….got what? you guys are going to work harder for Shay? Bob is upset because 3 people will go below the line, and 2 people will go home. From 8 to 6. Shay is working SO HARD. Jillian just rides her. Jillian says it’s a matter of life and death…pushes Shay so hard. She is the one for the job. Jillian is YELLING at her saying she will go home- Bob and Jillian fight. They fight so HARD for everyone, and they know the tricks of working out and dieting.  Jillian is just so harsh sometimes but you know what maybe that is what some of these people need to break this addiction to food, and their feelings-

Rebecca cries saying that everyday is hard for her, is this girl depressed? stupid amanda…with her pep talk. Danny is now talking to Bob about losing his drive, all emotional talks this week. This week for the challenge they are jumping through hoops…The person who gets the 100 jumps’ (other people jumping in their hoops) is out. The person left wins immunity. They are just jumping in each others’ hoops. Liz needs immunity…393 pounds Shay…she is taking a serious body beating. Daniel and Amanda, Liz are out…Alan is now out. Danny Rudy, working against Rebecca. Rebecca is out…only person left is Shay. Shay is talking shit to Rudy. Wow. Shay is calling him out. Telling him he has no integrity. Shay is just talking shit to everyone calling them all out. Now Rudy is telling Shay she has no character. They are fighting….Shay is out. This is every intense….Danny is dying- guess who ends up with immunity….Rudy.

Oh my god, they are working out extra hours ….sneaking in bikes, and weight balls….into Shays room! They are basically cheating…but maybe not considering that the Biggest Loser ‘crew’ isnt stopping them. When the old sleep, the young WORKOUT!

Shay is the first to weigh in! she loses 17 pounds!!!!! She has lost 100 pounds on the show! This is amazing. She is the quickest woman to lose 100 pounds. Amanda the most annoying serious is left. Her legs are STILL huge. She loses 5 pounds pounds…I hope she falls below. Rebecca is up, she loses 10 pounds. Danny is next he loses 17 pounds!!! He is pumped. Bob said he knew that he was going to see great numbers….because of the red line and that is pushing people. Alan needs to of lost more than 10 pounds….he loses 10 pounds exactly. Liz loses 12 pounds! She is the oldest person on the ranch. Liz is leading the weighin…Shay is below the yellow line, and she loses 17 pounds and is still below the yellow line. So, two young people are under the yellow line..Daniel is left. He loses 5 pounds. He is below the red line, and has to leave the campus right away, everyone is crying and upset….The music is just so depressing, it causes emotion. He says goodbye to Jillian and Bob….and leaves…2 people to choose from Shay or Amanda. They better send Amanda HOME. Amanda hugs Bob, and Jillian and Shay hug….THE DRAMA!

Send home Amanda!!!!!! She is worthless. Get rid of her. No one is going to vote Shay off, if you do your just a bad person. Of course Amanda is crying and making everyone feel bad for her…but you have only lost 50 pounds and you have been there for 9 weeks! Come on. You haven’t fought, this girl has lost 50 pounds in 9 weeks……its not enough weight….not at this level. Where people are losing 100 pounds in 9 weeks, twice of what Amanda has lost. Rebecca, and Alan both vote for SHAY! This is horrible. Liz votes Amanda. This is up to Rudy. ….who is Rudy going to pick? Him and Shay got in a fight at the challenge…He votes for Shay. I’m shocked. This is horrible. Amanda the LOSER gets to stay. Orange team is gone.  Next week is makeover week. I am ready for this season to be over. Its annoying.

Oh wait, why bother?  It was not the delicious juicy scandal that it was made out to be.  Parents these days — they’re not very bright.  What they don’t realize is that any kissing threesome their teenager sees on TV has more than likely also been seen by that kid in person.  Oh hell it may have even involved their kid.  So parents, if you’re reading this: BEWARE.  Your kids are not as naive as you think.  They’re just little sociopaths waiting for a chance to fully blossom.

Serena finally explained to Blair what happened with her father over the summer, and OH JOY! now he’s going to come to life.  Seeing Lily find that letter in the mail from Daddy-o to Serena means all my wishes are about to come true.  If only I knew who was playing the part…. and when did we hear that Pops VDW was a Doctor?  I was somewhat confused by the return address for a moment.  I thought he was just a playboy. 

Next week we see the whiplash-like fallout from the threesome.  Seems even famous Olivia is prone to jealousy.  I just wish I knew if we were getting a Thanksgiving episode.  Those are my faves!

Nora met a man, and he’s an oncologist, which seems like a great fit for her considering where she’s at in life right now.  And he’s super cute, too.  Although Nora’s neuroses have really started to get under my skin now that we’re on the 4th season.

A possible pregnancy for Rebecca???  Maybe I’m the only one who thinks this, but I suspect that wedding will never happen.  Maybe Rebecca will get an abortion without telling Justin, then he’ll find out later and it will cause them to split up.  I know that’s not a happy thought, but I’m just throwing some ideas around.  Feel free to share yours. 

Otherwise, Scotty found out his dad’s a cheater, too, but he got a very pricey comic book gifted to him to help out with 1) the guilt factor his Dad obviously feels and 2) the cost of the impending Scotty-Kev baby!  Thank God we got rid of Roxy for hopefully the rest of the season.  She needs to stick to delivering bitchy lines on The City while looking menacing with her overly arched brows and overly scarlet lips.

I’ve never been a big fan of Susan.  The big doe eyes and grasshopper-like legs don’t really do it for me.  So, here’s where things are on Wisteria Lane: after Angie filled Susan’s ear with doubt on what Katherine’s alibi was for the night of Julie’s strangling, Susan went to the cops.  They didn’t take her seriously, but a female detective from Susan’s high school days sort of did.  Well, enough to hear Susan out and then go befriend Katherine because of their mutual dislike.

As usual, Gaby stole the show with the homeschooling issues.  Just when you thought she just didn’t have the patience to do it, she goes and admits that it is ruining her relationship with Juanita and cries on Carlos’ tie — but mostly she cried about the fact that he wouldn’t let her keep the housekeeper.  Next week, she tries desperately to get Juanita into Catholic school.  Now, what the hell happened to their niece, Anna?  She has disappeared for the past couple of episodes. 

Lynette witnessed Julie and Dominic “Nick” Bolen having an argument about the end of their relationship.  After trying to convince him to stay away from Julie, Lynette also went to the police.  But as soon as Nick got home, Angie admitted that she gave him an alibi.  Here’s my question: what is Angie’s alibi for that night?  Julie’s screwing around with her husband and she’s the only Bolen at this point who hasn’t been checked out.  Also, are they supposed to be in the witness protection program or something?  Angie made the comment that neither her or Nick could leave one another — why not?

Last but not least, we have Bree.  Who is starting to look a little Skeletor, is she not?  Orson tried to pick up a broach similar to the one he believed she purchased, and in questioning her about it, she blew up on him and said that she wants a divorce and he can’t win her back with trinkets.  When will we finally see the end of Bree & Orson?  And who will Orson hook up with next now that the town bicycle (AKA Edie) is dead?
